Inherited a comic collection and not sure what to do next? You are not alone.
Many people who contact Twilight Comics are not comic collectors themselves. They may have inherited comics from a parent, spouse, sibling, friend, or relative and suddenly found themselves responsible for boxes of books they do not fully understand.
That can feel overwhelming. You may not know whether the comics are valuable, common, complete, damaged, collectible, or simply taking up space. Twilight Comics can help you take the first step.
You do not need to know the difference between publishers, eras, printings, variants, grades, or key issues before contacting us.
You also do not need to look up every comic online, alphabetize the collection, or create a complete list before reaching out. In many cases, a few clear photos and a rough idea of how much material you have are more helpful than hours of research.
If you inherited a comic collection, the most useful details usually include:
Photos can help. Clear pictures of the boxes, a sample of the comics, and any older or unusual-looking books are usually enough to start the conversation.
Looking comics up online can be useful, but it can also be confusing. A comic listed online for a high price has not necessarily sold for that amount, and small differences in condition, printing, completeness, or demand can change value dramatically.
It is also different to sell one comic individually than to sell an entire inherited collection at once. If you want to better understand how collection value works, our page on what a comic collection is worth may be a helpful place to start.
Selling an inherited collection does not have to mean parting with everything.
If some books have sentimental value, family history, or personal meaning, it is completely reasonable to set those aside before discussing the rest of the collection. We are happy to work with the portion you are actually considering selling.
If the inherited collection is large, please contact us before bringing everything to the store. Multiple boxes, long boxes, storage totes, or mixed collections may need to be planned in advance.
Starting with our Selling Your Collection Form gives us a better idea of what is involved and helps avoid unnecessary trips.
Not every inherited comic collection is valuable, and not every collection is something Twilight Comics can purchase. Some collections contain key issues or older material that should be reviewed carefully. Others are mostly common comics with limited resale demand.
Either way, the first step is understanding what kind of collection you have.
If you inherited a comic collection and are considering selling it, start by completing our Selling Your Collection Form.
Tell us what you know, include photos if possible, and we will review the information to determine the next step.
