Shadow Season at Twilight Comics

Independent businesses are closing everywhere.
2025 has been brutal; thousands of small businesses and even decades-old chains have shut their doors. It’s not just comic shops. It’s bookstores, restaurants, record stores, game stores, craft shops—pillars of local community life across the country.

Twilight Comics has survived since 1993.
We’ve moved, adapted, and kept going through distributor collapses, rent hikes, and the pandemic. We’ve called Swansea home since 2015. But survival is not guaranteed.

That’s why we’re declaring this September: Shadow Season.

Why “Shadow Season”?

Because each day, as summer fades, the shadows grow longer, stretching toward fall. But with the lengthening shadows, the twilight also becomes greater.

Twilight is more than a time of day. It’s who we are. It’s the name on our sign, the legacy we’ve carried for more than thirty years. Shadow Season is the time when Twilight stands out against the dark. But we can only do that if our community stands with us.

What We Have Planned

Labor Day Grand Finale (Sept 1)

The closing act of August’s sale calendar. Mystery perks and bonus-card multipliers. One last August-style surprise before Shadow Season begins.

Rescue Box Saturday (Sept 13)— prices under review

Not clearance. Not 90% off. A stand. Fill a Starter Box ($40) or a Collector Box ($100) with bin back-issues. Every box sold = your name on the Wall of Shadows. Every box keeps Twilight alive.

Batman Week → Batman Day (Sept 15–21; Batman Day is Sept 20)

Celebrate the Dark Knight with us. Every Bat-family purchase = an entry to win a Bat Bundle (to be revealed this week). Saturday perks, giveaways in-store, and special variants for the day.

National Comic Book Day + Local Comic Shop Day (Sept 25 + Sept 27)

  • Sept 25: Every $25* you spend gets you $5 Twilight Voucher (valid through Oct 12).
  • Sept 27: Celebrate Local Comic Shop Day; a nationwide moment to recognize independent shops like Twilight.

*New items received after March 1st, items on hold, and already discounted items do not qualify.

This Is Why It Matters

Shadow Season isn’t another colorful, silly sales calendar. It’s our survival campaign. If you’ve ever found a favorite series here, met a friend here, or just felt at home among the shelves, this is when your visit matters most.

And to be clear: if your own finances are tight, please don’t spend what you can’t afford. Take care of yourself and your family first. But if you do have room to support local this September, know that every visit and every purchase at Twilight Comics helps keep us alive.

  • Every purchase counts.
  • Every Rescue Box or graphic novel is fuel.
  • Every person who walks in is proof that Twilight Comics still matters.

Stand with us this September. Celebrate comics with us.
Help ensure that Twilight Comics — the Metro-East’s longest-running comic shop under continuous independent ownership — keeps going.

Because in the season of shadows, it’s the twilight that becomes greater.
